Management Biographies

James E. Vrtis, CEO, President and Chief Technology Officer

Jim is the technology founder of RTFS and serves as the Company’s President, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Jim is responsible for the design, development and on-going support and maintenance of the software product and service. He has more than 20 years of engineering and technology experience, starting his career in research and development for AT&T at their Network Software Center and Bell Labs.

He is a principal and founder of several technology-based organizations. Jim is published out of Purdue University, College of Engineering Frontiers in Education technology forum. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Degree in Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing, with minors in Mathematics and Physics. Jim began his career working for Bell Labs and AT&T at the Naperville Software Center. He has worked in Research and Development for Videojet Systems International where his team designed and developed the next generation of commercial products for the company. He started and managed the Software Quality group in the Product Reliability department for Motorola in their automotive sector. He joined TTC Labs as a partner and led their software consulting group. He started ResultSet, Inc. in 1996. ResultSet is a software products and services company providing consulting, new product design and development services and products primarily in the medical sector.

His projects with ResultSet have included consulting with IRI and AC Nielsen in the development of their next generation of products and services. He has developed content management systems for many clients including Yale Engineering, Northwestern MEM and IEMS programs. He designed and developed the Kraft Foods Promotion System for target marketing and advertising, the Business Intelligence and Profitability System for Arthur Andersen and SBC. His work includes the design and development of several office and sales systems for the Energy sector. He has designed and developed several proprietary electronic stock and commodity trading systems. Partnering with Northwestern Hospital and Nikon he designed and developed several medical software systems. Some of his medical projects with ResultSet include the Pancreatic Cancer Research System, Lyn Sage Breast Center Study, Transplant System, Medical Media System and the Medical Software System now used in many of the premiere teaching hospitals and institutions in the country, including Northwestern, Children’s and Shiners.

Chad N. Saffro, Director of Carrier Sales

Chad is a founder of RTFS and serves as the Company’s Director of Carrier Sales. He is responsible for the carrier sales department, operations, training, installations and customer service. He previously served for five years as an operations manager in the produce transportation arena. Chad earned a B.S. in Business Administration with Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

Adam Saffro, Director of Shipper Sales

Adam is a founder of RTFS and serves as the Company’s Director of Shipper Sales. He is responsible for private and public network shipper sales and operations. Before launching RTFS, Adam was a business analyst for two years at Hewitt Associates. Adam received a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois.
